“Forever on Thanksgiving Day, the heart will find the pathway home.” Wilber D. Nesbit, I hope you are always right. I always want to be full of family on Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving Day to me means being full.
I have a saying that I (unfortunately) say throughout the year when I happen to over-indulge. “Thanksgiving-full”. This is the feeling of being too full of food. Stuffed. Like the turkey. (although we don’t actually stuff our turkeys)
Every Thanksgiving Day, I eat all the sides (I mean carbs), I eat all the desserts and just a little turkey and ham. I am full. Stretchy-pants-Thanksgiving-full.
Thanksgiving-full can also be a positive thing when you are full of all the other things Thanksgiving Day should offer.
Full of family, love, blessings, full of thanksgiving for your blessings throughout the year, grandparents, full houses, full of laughter, and of course full stomachs.
“Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not a coincidence.” -Erma Bombeck
Thanksgiving Day is a day to join together. No matter if it is only you and your children, your extended family or friends for a Friendsgiving. Be together. Laugh and enjoy each other.
I said last year in a blog post that ‘Thanksgiving is the front door to the holidays’ -Christmas and New Year’s. It is the less-stressful get-together that allows us to love each other and celebrate the wonderful-ness in our lives.

We gather around a table and eat and drink together making new memories every year. It is a time to reflect upon the year and the blessings that were given to you. Even if the year has not been a particularly good one, you can always find something to be thankful for. It is a day to delight in all God has given you, in the relationships that you have nourished and the food that has been prepared.
Like all years, I am always grateful for my family. My husband. My children. My parents and my in-laws. I am always grateful for my two brothers and my sister, for Mark’s brother, Dave and his wife, Marti. I am very thankful for my nieces and nephews that I have been blessed with. And aunts and uncles. Family!

My writing makes me extremely grateful. For finally finding the will, the courage, the ability and opportunity. And I am always thankful for those that read my ramblings. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate the time you take to read.
I am always grateful for the simple pleasures, the joys and delights throughout the year. I am thankful that even on a gloomy day outside (and sometimes a gloomy day in my heart) I can see joy;I can see God. I feel that is a gift and is why I am a cheery soul more days than not.
It is gratitude that makes Thanksgiving Day a holiday. Not the food, although the food is a major character at the table. Gratitude warms the table, warms the heart and warms the relationships.
