Headed to paradise, flying high above and through the clouds, I ask myself, “Why do I feel so spiritual up here?” Why do I feel more? Why do I feel the need to pray so much and actually feel more-feel more blessed, feel more close to God, feel more little?
If you know me at all, you know I love a blue sky. Beautiful, bright, blue skies, clustered with fluffy, thick, white clouds. I am always looking up on days like this and I am always taking pictures of the blue sky and the white clouds.
Looking out this tiny window, flying high above, I am seeing these perfect clouds and sky.
Flying high above the Earth, looking down upon her, and she’s so tiny below me. I feel as though I am floating, flying, like so many dreams I’ve had.
“I’m somewhat in my own cloud.” Karlie Kloss
The skies around me, below me, are the brightest blue I have ever seen. It is like He is showing off for me because He knows I love the bluest of blue skies. But we know He doesn’t show off, He is simply making me happy because He knows blue skies make me happy.
And, I am headed to paradise. One of many, I suppose, that He created. I have been blessed to travel to several on His list.
Speaking of being blessed, thirty years ago, I flew with Mark to my first beach ever (out of the U.S.). Before that, I had only driven to beaches. Mark and I were headed to Puerto Vallarta. Today, we are flying to Amelia Island to celebrate these thirty years. That was the first time I had ever flown out of the country. We discovered the love for traveling together. Perhaps, it was the first thing we created together, (sorry Danni!). Before our honeymoon to Mexico, I had only been out of the country twice. The first was to Niagara Falls with my parents and the second was in college, to Matamoros, by way of South Padre. (parents don’t let your children go on Spring Break without you!)

While I soar above the Earth, flying high above, I am listening to Kesha’s song Praying. I highly recommend this angelic song, whether you listen to Pop music or not. Seriously, she speaks strong words in the song and to me the song speaks about pain and forgiveness. Someone obviously did her wrong and she is reminding them to pray. Good stuff.
I also listen to Christina Perri (NOT Katy!) when I am flying high above. I started listening to her music a few years ago. I don’t listen to her on the ground too much and not sure why that is because she also has an angelic voice. Try her out if you have never heard her. Pure. My girls introduced her music to me before we saw her in concert with Ed a few years ago. Beautiful voice.

Maybe it’s because I am so high up here and I know I am not supposed to be? I mean do you ever think about how an airplane even becomes airborne and how it stays up here in these big, fluffy, white clouds? Baffles this small mind of mine. I can’t even think about it.

There could be a simple cause behind the breakdown… a simple cause with a simple fix! Before you rush to the repair shop, try a few things at home! Remember – never do anything to your aid that makes.

I consider myself a person who prays a lot but I always amp it up when I am up here (because I know I am not supposed to be in the clouds yet). When the day comes, even if its today, don’t worry about me. I know where I am going. I will be with my sweet grandparents. My Grandma will be first in line and my MeeMee will be standing beside her. Both of my Papa’s will be behind them. Mark’s grandparents will be there, also, singing and hugging me. I also have a few friends and a nephew or niece.
Ok, enough of that, back to flying…
Perhaps all this deep thinking, spiritual wonderfulness has something to do with the man flying beside me? We have such a good life. We still love each other after thirty years (plus one dating year!) and we have fun together. We have three beautiful children, our parents who we love so dearly, are not only still alive and in our lives but they are also still married and still love each other after more than fifty years of marriage! That is something to raise your glass to! Chin chin!

Or, perhaps it’s the wine…
Here’s hoping you fly to paradise sometime soon, flying high above with someone you love, above this Earth that is so small below. I’m hoping you fly in and out of, and above, the beautiful, fluffy, white clouds, listening to some music that moves you. While you are up here, I hope you pray for the people you love. Oh, and the wine…have a bit of wine.

P.S. I wrote this while flying with my husband to celebrate our thirtieth anniversary. I was feeling particularly blessed and opened my laptop and started pecking away. This is what I came up with and I decided to post it today. The ramblings of Dedra. Hope you enjoyed!

Stephanie, thank you so much for reading and your comment is so sweet. I was having a moment and I love how you get that. I just let my thoughts go and I typed as quick as I could and recorded the experience I was having. It’s a different type of post for me but I was happy with the results. Thank you again for getting it and understanding what I was trying to do!
