Make your own sunshine. This is a mantra I believe in and live by for many years now. Possibly forever. Choosing to be happy, no matter what, choosing to see the bright side, no matter what, has been a lifesaver for me. Smile and you will get through it.
Don’t depend on others to make you happy. Only you can make you happy. Only you can choose to be happy.
What makes you happy?
I have a long list of things that make me happy; make me smile.
Sunflowers are one of those simple things.

Coming home from Lubbock, after Cameron graduated from Tech, we saw a large, sunny field of sunflowers. We pulled over, got out and took the silliest, most wonderful pictures.
That made me happy. Pictures with my girls make me happy. My three kids make me happy.
Helen Keller had the right idea when she said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.”

I am choosing to be happy like a sunflower.
Here is a list of more things that make me happy.
My family makes me happy. My husband makes me happy. My faith, shopping with friends or with my girls, seeing my parents, seeing Mark’s parents, eating out with friends, eating in with my friends, charcuterie boards and wine with friends—all these things make me happy.
Having all three of my children under one roof makes me happy. Hearing all three of my children laughing probably is the prettiest sound in the world to me–and that makes me happy.
Traveling makes me happy. Writing for a travel blog also makes me happy. (read my post here about Amelia Island!)
Date night with my husband also makes me happy.

Not only do sunflowers make me happy, all flowers make me happy!
Blue skies always make me happy! And sometimes, even the rain makes me happy. Especially in my sunroom! Choosing to be happy on rainy days!
I really love to eat, so good food makes me happy—pizza, TexMex, seafood, Cajun, salads (thankfully) and carbs (un-thankfully)—I could go on and on. (I wish working out made me happy!)
Oh, and then there are cupcakes! Oh my!
Another thing that makes me happy is writing. And being read. A blog post that has almost 9000 readers makes me ecstatic!! My cupcake blog post, featured on Waco Moms Blog, reached those numbers. THAT made me super happy!
