Letting go of perfection will lead to a happier you. Accepting yourself for who you are will also bring you more happiness. We all know there is no such thing as perfect, but we all strive for perfection. And, striving for perfection, only sets you up for failure.
We all have this stupid notion that we must be perfect. But, we don’t. We don’t have to be perfect and letting go of perfection is a must.
We must be forgiving, of ourselves and others. We must be loving to ourselves, and others. Perfection is a fairytale world. Letting go of perfection is living in the real world.
This idea goes for body image and weight loss, business success, personal relationships, home décor, and everything else in this real world in which we live. Real world, not a fairytale world.
Perfect is a bad word. Perfection is a bad word. They both put unneeded pressure on you and me. Nobody is perfect, so why do we feel we have to strive to be something we never will be? We will never be mermaids, right? We will also never be perfect. The sooner we realize this, the better we will be.
How can we re-adjust our thinking?
Forgiving others for their faults.
The same notion about perfection goes for others in our lives. The sooner we realize the people around us–our family, our spouses, and our friends, are not perfect, the sooner we can accept them for who they are and for their faults.
We are not perfect, and no one around us is either, so letting go of that perfect ideal world will help us all be happier. And more content.
“If you look for perfection, you’ll never be content.”
― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
We all have faults. And some faults can be changed, but knowing there is a possibility people will not change will help your relationship grow. Or, could help in your decision to let a relationship go.
We can’t change others, and if we try, we usually end up hurt. Not them, but us. People can change, but it must come from within, not because someone wants them to change. But change or no change, they will never be perfect.
“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.” ― Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life
Forgiving our perfectlessness
The idea of perfectly imperfect, or even imperfectly perfect, is a healthier outlook on life, and love.

“Don’t hide your scars darling; survival looks good on you.” – J.M. Wonderland
Scars show that you have lived. Scars mean that you have survived. We need to appreciate our scars, our faults, and learn to love them. Learn to love and appreciate the road you stumbled on. That road got you where you are today.
Scars don’t mean you lost. Scars don’t mean you are weak. Instead, scars show you are a fighter.

This is a powerful message. We are so hard on ourselves and this brings it home and helps to stay out of that rut. I loved the quotes you used too.
