How do you embrace that fall feeling in your home? I love fall and always decorate for autumn. I use many pumpkins and cozy blankets and
smells of fall.
Fall brought its beauty today. The rains are gone, and in its place is cooler, clear, and clean temperatures that bring a smile and a jump in your step.
If you are on Pinterest or Instagram, it is difficult to escape the love for fall that is pictured all over your scroll. Fall has appeared on social media in all it’s glory in recent weeks.
The change in season has everyone in a festive mood, and you can’t move away from all the fall front porches, elegant fall tablescapes, and all the pumpkin crafts and knitwear hacks.
Fall is a great time of year, the perfect excuse to get all cozy and warm and turn your home into a calm and relaxing hideaway from the cold.
But, not everyone has beautiful leaves or cooler temperatures. If you don’t have a yard full of leaves, if you don’t need cozy fall sweaters, you can still fake it.
In Waco, I fake it until I rake it. (leaves that is!)
I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves.
Embrace the fall feeling in your home with these fall ideas. Get ready for the coming months with these tips for embracing that cozy fall feeling in your home.
Change up your color scheme
While summer makes the most of the cool tones, bright shades, and plenty of white and light – fall is the opposite. Trending fall tones include muted oranges, purples, reds, and browns, and you can easily find home accessories in this color palette in stores and online.
By adding warmer tones to your home, you will make things feel cozier. You create a fall feeling, one that is cozy and relaxing. Comforting.
One way to easily change the color of a room is by adding or changing the textiles. So, consider investing in some new seasonal drapes that alter the color of your home, as well as provide better insulation.
Also, drape fall blankets on your sofas and chairs. And, store them in baskets. I love using fall plaids. It is an easy way to add warmth and of course cozy!
And, a fall décor tip—use scarfs and your shawls. Draped across a sofa, when you aren’t wearing them, is a great way to add more fall color to your home. Adding fall colors adds warmth and gives you the fall feeling.
If you don’t like all the orange tones, you can find the ornamental pumpkins and the cute snowball pumpkins. I have added a lot of white pumpkins in my home. It gives a PoP to the warmer tones.
I buy pumpkins at pumpkin patches, grocery stores, and local nurseries. I love to decorate with faux pumpkins, also. (I told you I fake it!)

Put your heating in place
As it starts getting colder, you’re going to be thinking about heating your home to help make it toasty – especially during those cold mornings or dark evenings. Now is a great time to do some maintenance on your appliances to check that everything is in working order.
This of course is not as fun as adding pumpkins and blankets to your home, but as we all know–heat is vital in the colder months.
Seek appliance repair if your boiler, heater or stove aren’t looking as healthy as they should – it’ll save you some hassle in the long run. Of course, you can always save on heating costs by adding some extra layers or using a log fire, but it’s good to ensure your appliances are all in good working order anyway.
And don’t forget to start up your heater before you need it. Don’t wait until it is freezing outside to check your heat source.
