The Weenteam loves when we read picture books, so on Weenteam Wednesdays, I will review books, and Charli and Martha will give their paws up.
Every Wednesday, on Instagram. Picture book reviews! Paws up or down. And on the last Wednesday of the month, I will post all four Weenteam Wednesday picture book reviews here on my blog.
I write picture books and read A LOT of them—I love them and believe you are never too old for a picture book. Reading stacks and stacks of picture books helps me learn to write them better.
And because I no longer have littles at home, I read to my Weenteam. And they love it!
Here’s the very first Weenteam Wednesday picture book review…

MEENA’S MINDFUL MOMENT picture book review
Kids won’t “see” the lessons written by Tine Athaide, but they will be glued to the fun words and pictures.
And whatever Meena does, her hurly-burly hullabaloo, does too.

BATTLE OF THE BUTTS picture book review
Imagine learning about animals who fart on purpose, animals who use their butts to breathe, eat (ew), swim, and talk! Some animals even use their bums for killing!
BATTLE OF THE BUTTS -The Science Behind Animal Behinds is written by Jocelyn Rish and illustrated by David Creighton-Pester, and published by Running Press Kids, Hachette Book Group.
Your children will be entertained and educated about ten animals who use their bums creatively to better their lives. They will giggle while they learn!
This picture book is for smart kids, curious kids, science kids, animal-loving kids, giggly kids, and farty, tooty kids! This book is for anyone who has ever gotten tickled from hearing a fart—also, any kid who loves to learn fun facts about animals.
The Weenteam doesn’t toot, but they loved BATTLE OF THE BUTTS and gave it eight paws up!????
Jocelyn Rich used The Weenteam in her Instagram book campaign, and she also used my daughter’s Daneteam!
And the last Weenteam Wednesday picture book review of January is…
I’M A HARE, SO THERE! picture book review
For our last WEENTEAM WEDNESDAY picture book review of January, the Weenteam wanted to read I’M A HARE, SO THERE!
This is a “read it again” picture book!
I’M A HARE, SO THERE! is written and illustrated by Julie Rowan-Zoch and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2021.
Now, I know the difference between a hare and a rabbit, and I feel much smarter. But between all the learning, there is an adorable story and spunky pictures! This snarky varmint explains why he’s a hare, so there!
And now, I need a snarky leopard and cheetah book because I always get that wrong.
This hilarious informational fiction story will teach your children the difference between animals who look the same—rabbits and hares, turtles and tortoises, and more!
I’M A HARE, SO THERE! also gave me the first-day-of-school feeling when teachers mispronounced my name. I hated it, and I felt unseen and embarrassed. Later in life, I found confidence, like Hare, and now I correct people who get it wrong.
Charli also feels Hare’s frustration when people think she’s a boy or spells her name with an “ie” and not the simple i.
Our favorite line in the book is:
“Listen up, Chipmunk. I’m a hare, so there!”
The Weenteam loved this amusing book and gave it eight paws UP!????
