Children’s books are a huge part of my life, and today, I review the dreamy picture book The Little Reindeer by Nicola Killen.
If you know me at all, you know I always have a stack of children’s books near me. I live, breathe, write, and revise children’s books these days. Kidlit even appears in my dreams some nights.
And today, I am reviewing a Christmas picture book.
My road to publication is still winding, and I am okay with that.
These days, I read a lot of blogs about kidlit. And I’m in the process of steering my blog in that direction, as well.
Today, I am reviewing a magical Christmas picture book as part of a blog series and blog tour with my critique group. My Critique Sisters and I will be reviewing books and hosting giveaways all week as part of The 7 Days of HoliYAY blog series!

My Critique Sisters and I have been writing together for two years. And I consider them my critique family. They are family. We build each other up and talk each other down from the proverbial ledge when rejections get to us. I adore them all. And, I am a better writer because of them. I also believe I critique manuscripts better because of these ladies.
You can read more of my children’s book reviews on Waco Moms.
And now for my review of:
The Little Reindeer by Nicola Killen
The Little Reindeer written and illustrated by Nicola Killen, was published in September 2017 by Simon Schuster/Paula Wiseman Books.
Words like lovely and dreamy come to mind. The illustrations draw you in immediately as you follow a little girl named Ollie on a snowy adventure as she helps her new friend, a little lost reindeer, find his way.
This book is stuffed full of snowy-magical-goodness and begs to be read again and again so you can relive the Christmas magic.
This book reminds me of my childhood books that also had cutouts that uncover the story piece by piece and peek by peek.
Erectile dysfunction shakes up the man when he comes to know that he is suffering from any sexual problems, suggest this product to stimulate your sensual organs and enjoy a fulfilling sex life with ED drugs like generic line viagra . Two such drugs that we will put to test here levitra prices are Malegra DXT Plus and Kamagra. Erectile dysfunction or impotence is viewed by many, viagra store most especially by the public, as something unbecoming for a male.
Yes, the black and white illustrations pull you into the snowy night with splashes of red. Simply stunning.
And what brings more Christmas spirit than jingling jangling of bells—reindeer bells!
Goodreads writes:
An enchanting Christmas story about a magical yet unlikely friendship between a little girl and a lost reindeer, lovingly told and illustrated with red foil highlights and interactive die cuts.
When a jingling sound wakes her from her sleep, a little girl’s dreams come true when she meets a lost reindeer in the forest. They set off on a magical adventure, and it becomes a Christmas never to forget. Nicola Killen’s evocative illustrations are sure to enchant in this beautiful book with die cut pages, foil, and flashes of festive red.
And once you fall in love with Ollie, you can read more books in the series —The Little Rabbit and The Little Kitten, along with many more books by the Cambridge author/illustrator Nicola Killen.
And, I spoke to Nicola Killen, and she told me she is working on yet another book in the Ollie series! How exciting! Congratulations, Nicola!
So, I hope you will check out The Little Reindeer, and the other Ollie books, from your local library. You should also buy a copy at your indie bookstore. And you will help the author and small shop owner!
